Eligibility:

All Rhode Island USBC Youth Association members in good standing either attending or graduated from high school.

Membership in USBC Youth Association or other sanctioned bowling organization is not required at the time the funds are actually disbursed.

Forced suspension or expulsion of an individual from the USBC Youth Association or any other sanctioned bowling organization will result in disqualification for any pending scholarship awards and complete forfeiture of all scholarships that individual has already been awarded.

Awards Process:

The Head Coach or Senior League Official of each recognized junior bowling program within the jurisdiction of the Rhode Island USBC Youth Association may submit a scholarship application for one (1) male and one (1) female from their program.

Applications must be received by January 31, 2011.  Scholarships will be awarded at the Annual Awards Banquet.

The Rhode Island USBC Youth Association Scholarship Committee will review the applications and forward them with any personal information removed to the respective WIBC and ABC local Associations or non-affiliated group to be rated.  The completed rating sheets will be returned to the scholarship committee and the boy and girl with the highest total rating score will be awarded the Rhode Island USBC Youth Association  Scholarships.

In the event that a timely response is not received from the local associations, the scholarship committee reserves the right to select a non-biased selection committee to perform the rating process.

Scholarship funds will be deposited in a Rhode Island USBC Youth Association Scholarship Account in the name of the scholarship winner.  Disbursement of funds will be made through the State Association with proof of acceptance to an accredited institute of higher learning.

Award winners are required to use their scholarships by the latest of 1) the end of the year following that in which the scholarship is awarded or 2) the end of the third year after high school graduation.  Scholarship funds will be forfeited if not used within the allotted time.

Scholarships will be disbursed at their face value at the time of the award (interest is not accrued on behalf of the scholarship winner).
